We've found that asking the question, "Why are you interested in the Middle East" is an interesting conversation-starter! Was it a travel experience, a family member, 9/11, oil, religion, or some other reason? What got you interested in this region? Here's your forum to share your story!

Hello. A few years ago, I sold my businesses and returned to college--The University of Montana-Missoula. I started majoring in print journalism, but found I had a knack for Persian (farsi) and an interest in Islamic history. I switched my major to Geography with an emphasis on Central and Southwest Asia. Spent one semester in Republic of Georgia at the Tbilisi Institute of Asia and Africa studying Persian language and history. I ran out of money for college, with only 6 credits remaining. I am still interested in Central, Southwest Asia and the Middle East. (Where is the dividing line?) I hope everyone has a great day.
