Getting ready for an excursion to Baghdad University this morning to see what students think of the situation and elections @ year’s end.
Beautiful weather..police escort from airport and around town helpful for interviews and lunch at Baghdad Hunt Club. So far it seems safer!
Headed “home” to Baghdad. It’s been exactly 3 years…can’t wait to see what’s changed. Yesterday lunch at Movenpick Beirut, amazing view!
@brjackson in DC? I love that place…my old haunt.
Just toured AUB, bought tix to ‘Dad, finishing grades at a coffeeshop in Al Hamra, and soon to lunch with Bakhtiar Amin’s secretary.
Hearing why many Lebanese support Hizballah–even Christians and secularists. Observing team-building training with Iraqis fascinating too!
I’m in Beirut. Already in love with it…

New Warriors for Peace!
Yesterday marked the official kick-off of the Euphrates Institute “Warriors for Peace” Pledge! The Amnesty International Principia Chapter sponsored a signing booth on the college campus and tirelessly promoted the concept of Warriors for Peace and directed individuals to sign the pledge on the website. http://www.euphratesinstitute.org/discussion.
Through the ideas and feedback generated, we were also able to revise the pledge wording, which made it much more pithy and positive.
Also, I just set up a new topic in the discussion forum so anyone can revise the Pledge with the wording and language that speaks to them the most, (keeping in mind the key elements of the “Warrior for Peace” concept), and share their revision with others.
I look forward to hearing what you all come up with and coming up with a Pledge that is a living document that all had a part in shaping!
